Tui Wellness Retreat
Steam, mist and geothermal teal, told as a journey down the page.
A geothermal retreat is bought as a whole day, sometimes a whole weekend. A list of treatments with prices next to them sells none of that, because the thing being sold is the shape of the day rather than any single item on it.
If the product is a sequence, the page should be a sequence. Scrolling becomes the act of walking through the day, which explains the price far better than putting the same information into a table.
Design decisions
- 01
A spine runs down the page and holds the order
The journey is a continuous line rather than separate cards. Cards would break the day into parts that can be compared and priced individually, which is the opposite of the argument.
- 02
Facilities are shown after the journey
The pools and rooms only mean something once someone can picture the day they belong to. Leading with facilities turns a retreat into a leisure centre.
- 03
Reveals are soft and never repeat on scroll back
Motion here is atmosphere. Elements that re-animate every time they enter the viewport turn atmosphere into distraction.
What is built into it
- Journey spine
- Facilities page
- Soft scroll reveals
- Booking form
Tui Wellness Retreat is a design study. The business, its address and its reviews are invented so we can show a finished website instead of a flat mockup. Nothing on this page describes a real client of VinaPage.
