Solar Installer Website Design Study

Northlight Solar

Near black and amber, with a hero that moves through a day of light rather than sitting still.

Northlight Solar demo website preview

Solar buyers collect three quotes and trust none of them. Every installer site shows the same panel on the same blue sky, and none of them answer the question that decides the sale: how long until this pays for itself on my roof.

Solar is a product about light hitting a surface over time, so the page should behave that way. A static photograph of a panel says nothing an installer can be judged on. Light moving across a roof through a day explains the mechanism in the time it takes to read the headline, which is the part every competitor is skipping.

Design decisions

  1. 01

The payback calculator sits near the top

It is the question everyone is there to answer, so it is not buried under a company story. Putting a number in front of someone early is a risk only if the number is bad, and it filters out enquiries that were never going to convert.

  2. 02

A roof told as a sequence, not a gallery

The roof story walks through one installation in order rather than dropping a grid of finished jobs. Sequence is what makes an unfamiliar and expensive process feel survivable.

  3. 03

Book a site visit, not request a quote

Request a quote asks the customer to start a negotiation. Booking a free site visit asks them to pick a time. The second is a smaller decision and it puts an installer on the roof, which is where the real quote comes from anyway.

What is built into it

  • Hero that moves through a day of light
  • Payback calculator
  • Site visit booking form
  • Install process page

Northlight Solar is a design study. The business, its address and its reviews are invented so we can show a finished website instead of a flat mockup. Nothing on this page describes a real client of VinaPage.
