What we build

Decks, fences, pergolas and outdoor rooms across the Queenstown Lakes: framed for snow, braced for the wind, priced fixed and backed in writing.

New timber deck and lawn behind a modern home

Decks

Kwila, garapa and composite decks, framed for snow and set out around the view.

Fences

Boundary, pool and privacy fencing that stands up to the nor’wester instead of leaning away from it.

Pergolas & louvres

Timber pergolas and adjustable louvre roofs for shade in February and light in July.

Balustrades

Glass, wire, aluminium or timber balustrades that meet the height and load rules without fighting the view you built the deck for.

Outdoor rooms

Covered decks and sheltered corners that stretch the outdoor season by months either side of summer.

The timber we build in

Five timbers, chosen for the job and the weather, not the price list.

  • KwilaDense Pacific hardwood, our default deck board where snow sits and the high-country sun bites.
  • GarapaPale South American hardwood that silvers evenly, for a lighter deck underfoot.
  • MacrocarpaLocally milled and warm, the honest choice for pergolas, screens and posts.
  • CompositeCapped boards for the low-maintenance brief, with a 25-year surface warranty.
  • Western red cedarLight, stable and slow to move, for louvres and cladding that has to stay straight.

Built for up here

Queenstown weather is the third party on every job. We build for it in three ways.

Snow-rated framing

Wet spring snow is heavy. We size joists, posts and footings for alpine snow zones under NZS 3604, so the deck that carries a summer crowd also carries a winter of snow.

UV-stable finishes

At this altitude the sun is harder on timber than the rain. We use oils and stains rated for high-country light, and tell you straight when a board is better left to silver.

Wind bracing

The nor’wester off the lake finds every weak post. Fences get H5 posts, deeper concrete footings and stainless screws rather than nails, with long runs braced for the gust, not the average.

How a build runs

Four stages from the first phone call to the last screw. No surprises in between.

Site visit

We walk the site, take levels, and talk through what the weather does to a structure up here.

Design and fixed price

A measured plan and a fixed quote inside the week, every allowance itemised in writing.

Consents

We handle building consent and the producer statement whenever the span, height or load needs one.

Build and handover

The same crew from first post to last screw, site left tidy each night, gone by four on the final day.

Know what you want to build?

We walk the site with you, talk through what the weather will do to it, and quote inside the week. No cost, no obligation.
