Strength is chosen at the chair
You book a peel, not a specific acid. Your practitioner reads the skin on the day and picks the family, the strength and the number of layers, because skin in February behaves differently to skin in August.

Peels run in two families. Radiance peels work at the surface with little to no flaking. Multi-layer peels go deeper and need a clear week in the diary.

Why it is worth it
You book a peel, not a specific acid. Your practitioner reads the skin on the day and picks the family, the strength and the number of layers, because skin in February behaves differently to skin in August.
Radiance peels give you brightness with almost no flaking, so they work before an event. Multi-layer peels do more, and ask for a clear week in return.
Pigment sits at a different depth to roughness. Layering lets one treatment address both instead of choosing between them.
Choosing a practitioner
Peels are where an inexperienced hand does the most damage. Depth of colour change, timing and when to neutralise are judgement calls made in the room, and they cannot be read off a bottle.
Asked about peel
On the radiance peels, rarely more than a little dryness. On the multi-layer peels, expect light flaking from day two to day five. It is not the dramatic sheeting people picture from television.
Two weeks for a radiance peel, four for a multi-layer one. Never try a new peel strength inside that window.
For the stronger peels, yes. Usually two to four weeks of a prescribed home routine so the skin is in a fit state to be treated. That preparation is part of why the result holds.
Yes. A freshly resurfaced face pigments easily. Skipping SPF after a peel can undo the treatment and leave you worse off than when you started.
A 45 minute mapping appointment reads your skin and sets the order of treatments. Nothing is booked until you agree to it.
