A day at the retreat
In no hurry at all
From the water to the hands you are in, here is how the hours actually unfold once you leave your phone at the gate.
The shape of a visit
Nobody rushes you here. A day unfolds in its own time, from the first soak to the last cup of tea on the deck. Scroll it through.
Arrive
Leave your phone in a locker and your shoes at the door. The noise stops at the gate.
Soak
Mineral pools fed by the same geothermal seam for centuries, kept between 38 and 41 degrees.
Steam
A cedar steam room, a cold plunge if you dare, and nowhere you need to be.
Wander
A slow loop of the native track between soaks, ferns overhead and the valley steaming below.
Rest
Wrapped in wool on the bush deck, tea in hand, tui calling somewhere above.
The hands you are in
A small team who mostly grew up near this water. You can ask for the same one each time you come.
Anahera Rawiri
Founder and balneotherapist
Grew up swimming these springs. Trained in mineral bathing and rongoa, and still greets most guests at the gate.
Jonty Fraser
Lead bodywork
Fifteen years of remedial and deep tissue. Ask for him if you carry your week in your shoulders.
Marama Hooper
Facials and skin
Works almost entirely with native botanicals, and can tell you exactly what each one is doing.
