Founder and build lead
Started EcoBuild in 2013 after ten years framing houses that were cold the day they were handed over. Runs every build and answers the phone himself.
Ngaio Whitiora
Design and energy modelling
Trained in building science and runs the model on every home. If a wall is going to lose heat, she finds it on screen long before it is ever built.
Reuben Frost
Site foreman and lead carpenter
Leads the crew and owns the airtight detailing. Treats a taped junction like finish carpentry, because on a passive house that is exactly what it is.
Certifications and performance
We build to recognised standards and prove the result with a test, not a brochure.
Built to passive house principles
Continuous insulation, an airtight layer, thermal bridge free detailing and heat recovery ventilation on every home. We can build through to full certification when you want it.
Homestar ready
Our standard build targets the higher end of the Homestar scale for warmth, ventilation and running costs, and we document it for the rating when a lender or council asks.
Airtightness tested, not claimed
Every home gets a blower door pressure test and you get the result on paper. We would rather show you the number than tell you the house is tight.
Licensed and guaranteed
The work is carried out by Licensed Building Practitioners and carries a structural guarantee, with every producer statement and warranty handed over in one folder.

We build across Nelson and the Tasman district, close enough to keep the same crew on your site every day. If you are within about an hour of our Stoke workshop, we would like to hear from you.
